Westmeath leather designer, Brendan McEvoy, with his Creative Director Kasia Gaborec McEvoy who has won the overall Local Enterprise Showcase award on the opening day of Showcase in the RDS today (January 22nd). The entrepreneur, who was inspired to start his business "My Name is Ted"by his grandfather, a saddler who learned to make leather bags using his left hand and his mouth after he had a stroke, was presented with the award by the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Ms. Mary Mitchell O' Connor T.D when the Minister visited 'Local Enterprise Showcase' at the trade event. Co-ordinated by the network of Local Enterprise Offices, the new Local Enterprise Showcase is home to a record 110 emerging designers and craftspeople, with more than half exhibiting for the first time at the trade event. The craft and design businesses are all supported by their Local Enterprise Office in the Local Authorities Network, making it possible for them to meet international buyers from more than 20 countries. Showcase, Ireland's International Creative Expo, is organised by the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland and promoted internationally by Enterprise Ireland.
