The Irish Youth Foundation (IYF) has committed to levelling the playing field for young people born into disadvantage and their peers by closing the dangerous gulf between poverty and opportunity by today announcing a Flagship Fund of €500,000 that will focus on three core transitions of a young person’s journey from childhood through to adulthood - Education, Health & Wellbeing and Employability. After extensive research the Foundation knows that intervening at these key stages in a young person’s life will have a profound impact on the course they will take. Jodie attended the Core Youth Project in Inchicore as a teenager and it was there she learned the skills to fix and repair bicycles. She is now a master bicycle mechanic and shares her skills with other young people in the project. Jodie is also studying animal welfare and is planning to do a Youth & Community Work Course and build a career herself as a youth worker.Photo: Leon Farrell/Photocall Ireland.
