30/09/2020 Breast Cancer Ireland (BCI) for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. PIctured is transition year student Siobhan Downes in the grounds of Laurel Hill Secondary School Limerick relaunch the charity’s Breast Health Education and Awareness Programme in partnership with Cornmarket and the INTO. Paused earlier this year due to the pandemic, the complimentary service relaunches during October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the annual international health campaign to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. The BCI coordinators, all of whom are breast cancer survivors, share their personal stories to educate on how to perform a self-breast examination and highlight the signs and symptoms to recognise. The initiative covers Leinster, Munster and Connaught and the border counties.
