An Tánaiste, Leo Varadkar TD, Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment with Leo Clancy, CEO, Enterprise Ireland, Padraic McElwee, Chair of the Network of Local Enterprise Offices and AnnMarie Farrelly, Chief Executive, Fingal County Council and Chair of the CCMABusiness, Enterprise, Innovation, Urban/Town Economic Renewal (BEIUER)Committee .They are pictured today at a live virtual event to announce the Local Enterprise Offices (LEOs) annual employment results for 2021. The Local Enterprise Offices, which have a network of 31 branches nationwide, now support over 7,000 small businesses and 35,000 jobs across Ireland. 7,440 jobs were created in 2021 by LEO client businesses. This figure was up 9% on 2020, signalling ambitious growth in the small business sector in Ireland, despite the challenges presented by the pandemic and Brexit over the past year. In what was the 8th consecutive year of continuous employment growth for the Local Enterprise Office client network, 85% of the jobs created by businesses supported by the LEOs were outside of Dublin. The Local Enterprise Offices are located in the local authorities and funded through Enterprise Ireland and The Government of Ireland.
