Pictured (LtoR) Artist Paula Stokes, former President of Ireland Mary Robinson, OPW curator Dr. Myles Campbell, OPW Manager of Dublin Mary Heffernan, with, OPW Chairman Maurice Buckley Head of National Historic Properties Katie Morrisroe .Former President of Ireland, Mary Robinson, launched Memento Mori – a memorial installation dedicated to the Great Irish Famine – in St Patrick’s Hall at Dublin Castle. The stark, simple banquet table which holds the inedible crop of 1,845 hand-blown, ghostly white glass potatoes created by artist Paula Stokes is laden with symbolism and meaning in this location that served as the centre of opulence and power at a time of starvation, mass emigration and misery outside the Castle’s gates.Photo:Leah Farrell/Photocallireland
